IN THE STUDIO WITH ELISH

Elisheva Revah is a special talent. The dancer-artist-model-creative seems to have been birthed from the Earth as a beautiful form and essence of nature. Based in Tel Aviv and traveling throughout Europe, Elish has created and performed site-specific performance work, sculptures and drawings in Jaffa, the Israeli countryside and in residencies in Ibiza and France. Having grown up in a bohemian family in the hills outside of Jerusalem where modern appliances (even electricity) were ignored and deemed unnecessary to an artists’ life, Elish developed her own language of art: forms of powerful women that resemble Hieroglyphs, locks and keys that symbolize resistence, rebirth and feminine energy. A Goddess demanding praise. A connection to nature, to people and one’s self. Elish’s defining aura is captivating, with her body and mind being a work of art in itself. Before embarking to southern France for a month-long residency program, Elish invited me into her new studio space in Ganot to get a closer look of her process and a deeper understanding of the artist’s mind. It was a beautiful experience to say the least. Below you can find a collection of moments and images taken during this studio visit last month.
