Mexico
September 2018

By Simon Birman

One night in Amsterdam a couple of years ago, tripping on hallucinogenics, it all became very clear. I was to travel to Mexico to see my dear friend Agustin. We had met in Tel Aviv, but he went back to become a ranchero.

I think I was most impressed by the omnipresence of nature, even in a bustling city like Mexico DF. Everywhere, you see trees, mountains in the distance, and the souther you go, the more tropical it becomes. Mexico city, Valle de Bravo, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Yucatan. A month of traveling by night buses, hit or miss airbnbs, eating tacos and drinking mezcalitos, from the desert of Oaxaca City to the heart of the Palenque rainforest, from the mountain top village of San Jose del Pacifico to the iguana infested beaches of Tulum.
